Cutting Compounds – Paint Correction for Swirls and Scratches

Cutting compounds (Cut) are high-abrasive polishing compounds made for the first correction stage, when you need to remove or significantly reduce visible paint defects. They help reduce swirl marks, light-to-moderate scratches, oxidation and dull areas, restoring clarity before refining the finish.

When to choose a Cut compound

Visible swirl marks from washing

Dull or oxidized paintwork

A clear need for a first correction step before medium/finishing

Tips for best results

Match the compound with the right pad—usually a cutting pad for faster correction.

Work small sections and keep the process controlled to avoid excess heat and haze.

Follow up with medium or finishing polish to maximize clarity and gloss.

Wipe residue with a quality microfiber towel and, if needed, do a panel wipe to check the true result.
