3M 501 Prefilter Retainers, Pair

3M 501 are original prefilter retainers designed to attach 3M particulate filters to compatible 3M gas and vapour filters. This accessory allows gas / vapour filters to be combined with particulate prefilters, adapting the respirator for a wider range of work where the environment may contain not only chemical vapours, but also dust, mist, paint aerosol or other solid particles.

3M 501 retainers are used together with 3M 5000 Series particulate prefilters and 3M 6000 Series gas and vapour filters. They help securely hold the prefilter on the carbon filter, allowing the respirator system to filter both gases / vapours and particles, depending on the selected filter combination.

This accessory is especially useful for automotive painting, coating, body repair, sanding, paint preparation, industrial work, cleaning and maintenance tasks. For example, when using 3M 6055, 6057 or 6059 carbon filters for gases and vapours, 3M 501 retainers allow additional 3M 5911, 5925 or 5935 particulate prefilters to be attached when protection against aerosols or particles is also required. This combination is often used in painting and body repair work where solvent vapours and paint mist may be present at the same time.

3M 501 retainers are easy to attach and remove, allowing the filter combination to be quickly adapted to the specific task. They are reusable, but should be inspected regularly — damaged, cracked or deformed retainers should be replaced to ensure the prefilter is properly secured.

Important: 3M 501 is not a filter and does not provide protection on its own. It is a retainer designed to attach a particulate prefilter to a compatible 3M filter or adapter. The protection level depends on the filters used, the mask, the face seal and the correct filter selection according to workplace risks.
